Summer recap

The recording of the new D.T. album will start tomorrow, meaning that there probably won’t be much activity here for the next two months, so a little recap of recent activities is in order.

Because of the songwriting demanding most of our focus and attention, there haven’t been an abundance of shows this year, but nevertheless we managed to fit in a handful of festivals during the summer. The highlight was probably getting to play in Portugal again, with a vacation day in lovely Mira the day afterwards. Maybe I should have offered my Photoshop skills to the hotel as well?

A couple of exciting tours and festivals, some of them in territories we haven’t previously visited, are on the verge of getting confirmed – looks like December will be a busy month.

The live DVD that was shot last year in Milan will see the light of day in late October. Further details can be found here, and the end result has truly been worth the wait; everything looks and sounds amazing. Obviously, that’s what everyone would say about their own band’s upcoming release, but I really feel that we managed to create something special for the awesome people who are still devoted enough to support their fave bands buy buying their music.

The new Laethora CD, “The light in which we all burn”, will be released either later this year or in early 2010. Now, when the memories of the extremely ill-fated recording session (hard drive crashes, several rounds of sickness and an armada of ghosts in pretty much every machine) are starting to fade, what’s left is a very strong record that definitely will make more than a few heads turn out there. The debut album was mainly a homage to old school death metal, filtered through our own eccentric and eclectic music tastes, but the new material is more original and has a definite voice of its own. Hopefully there will be some song samples online soon.

Needless to say, there hasn’t been so much time for graphic related activities the past months, but I’m very pleased to announce that that I finished my first real book cover project, for a Luciferian crime noir novel (well…) set for release by a Norwegian publisher later this fall. More details to follow in due time.
