“The light in which we all burn” released

After a fair amount of delays, the 2nd Laethora album “The light in which we all burn” has seen the light (pun intended) of day. Reviews are so far excellent, with the highlight being a very positive 9/10 review in Decibel magazine.

I’m very satisfied with the album, both musically and graphically. Check it out for yourself by purchasing directly (CD+shirt bundle available) from The End records HERE. Alternatively, just do a search at your fave webstore or ask your local vendor (to the degree they still exist) to stock it.

For those of you using Spotify, the full album is streamed HERE.

And – of course – some samples are available on the MySpace page.

“We are the void” released!

The abovementioned event actually happened over a month ago, but since it hasn’t been mentioned here I’m doing it now. Head over to any of the following fine sites for info on this rock solid release:

In other D.T. related news, we just finished a 7-week US tour and are now at home recharging the batteries. I managed to get a bit of sketching/drawing done on the trek, so stay tuned for further updates.

Humanae

At last there is some official info on the new Laethora album. “The light in which we all burn” will be released worldwide through The End on April 27, 2010. A taster in the shape of the track “Humanae” can be found on the redesigned MySpace page here.

Obligatory self-quote about the song:

“Humanae is one of the more eclectic songs from the album, and it’s a good representation of what we wanted to achieve. Elements from different extreme metal subgenres are blended with more progressive chord progressions, all topped off with an epic ending part that still sends shivers through our spines. Hope you’ll like it, and stay tuned for more updates as the release date draws closer.”

Brief update? Why, yes….

Things are über busy at the moment, so not a whole lot of time to post any extensive updates.

Inbetween the projects that currently occupy my days, I’ve had some quick sketching sessions – both in the computer and in the moleskine – to get some relief. Mr. Fish here is one of several new creatures emerging from those.

Finally made some well-needed updated to the Dark tranquillity homepage as well and got around to updating the tattoo section. There are now no less than 67 pieces of D.T. related ink displayed, and it’s very humbling that our music has struck a chord with so many people to the degree that they’ve chosen to make us a part of their skin.

Laethora has a new rehearsal room! Sticks-and-skins maestro mr. Aakesson has uploaded some drumming footage to his YouTube channel, so check out the madman in action. Release info on the new album will come later this month, and new material is already in the making.

Dark tranquillity DVD out now

The long-awaited Dark tranquillity DVD “Where death is most alive”, shot in Milan, Italy in October 2008, was officially released through Century media this week. It took quite some time to get everything properly put together, but the knife-wielding lunatics at Vasara films did a stellar job with the editing and post production, and the whole things looks fantastic. This isn’t even an opinion, but a mere fact.

In addition to attempting to play the guitar, I created the front cover artwork, which is based on an old t-shirt design.

Press release here.

Welcome back!

Due to some server issues, I had to close down the page for a while, and I ended up deciding to start from scratch with a new database. It’s not like there was anything of super importance on the old site, but I’ll re-post some of the material just to get some content here.
