Thanks to the usage of a click track for samples and drum tempos, the footage can be 100% synchronized with the music, allowing the use of time matched keywords and animations that accentuate the rhythms and changes of the particular songs. The challenge is to create a good balance between the simple and complex, the visceral and cerebral. Most motion graphics techniques are used; animating and compositing still images originally created for CD covers/layouts, timelapse painting in Alchemy/Painter, custom photo/film work, 3D, stock video integration and so forth. Needless to say, one should visit the live show in order to get the full experience. The video backdrop is but one component of the gig, intended to accentuate the performance and provide a complementary experience to the music and lyrics.
